About Debbie Wrobel and Kathy Johns
Debbie
My name is Deborah Wrobel and I'm the technology specialist at Woodside Elementary. I also hold a position on the NCCE board of directors as well as a member of Discovery Education's STAR leadership program. Do I love teaching students technology? YES! I find as we have more and more curriculum constraints put on teachers, the students are thriving in a classroom that gives them an opportunity to use and learn with teachnology. My goal is for every student to push themselves and "surprise me" with facts and ideas I would never have thought to use. I have used SCRATCH in the classroom for 2 years and still have students begging for more. If you are reading this, you have an idea that students like to use technology, but I promise you that you'll find a class of inspired students once you give them an opportunity to learn with SCRATCH. Enjoy and keep those student minds thriving.
Kathy
My name is Kathy Johns, and I am the Instructional Technology Specialist for our school. I teach technology lessons to students in grades K-5 for 45 minutes each week. This will be my 38th year of teaching. Before working in the computer lab, I was a classroom teacher in grades 2-5, as well as in the Highly Capable program. I received my BA degree in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois in 1976.
